La presqu'île du Contentin est l'un des objectifs majeurs de l'opération Overlord, avec la prise de Cherbourg, port en eau profonde.

Deux divisions parachutistes sont larguées dans la nuit 5 au 6 Juin 1944 dont la 101st Airborne qui après avoir sécurisée les sorties de plage d'Utah Beach fonce vers le sud, Carentan.

Mon diorama montre la progression du  506th PIR de la 101st Airborne dans la ville de Carentan face aux parachutistes allemands du Fallshirmjäger - Regiment 6 en ce 12 juin 1944.

The Cotentin peninsula is one of the major objectives of Operation Overlord, with the capture of Cherbourg, deep-water harbor.

Two divisions paratroopers are dropped into the night 5 to 6 June 1944 with the 101st Airborne Division who after secure outputs Utah Beach heading toward the south, Carentan.

The battle took place between 10 and 15 June 1944, on the approaches to and within the city of Carentan. The Germans paratroopers (Fallshirmjäger - Regiment 6) left the town on the 12th of June after two days of heavy fights against the 101st Airborne paratroopers. 

My diorama  shows the advance of the 506th PIR of the 101st Airborne in the town.
