The 72nd Highlanders (Formerly 78th Highlanders) was a British Army Highland Infantry Regiment of the Line raised in the late 18th century in Scotland.

The regiment was deployed most of the Time in India and Ceylan. In 1854, the regiment was deployed in Crimea.

In 1858, the regiment moved to India as reinforcement during the Indian Mutiny.

Le 72nd Highlander est régiment d'infanterie Ecossais créé à la fin du 18ème siècle, il séjournera dans la première parti de son existence en Inde avant de retourner en métropole. Il participera à la guerre de Crimée puis sera déployé en Inde à nouveau en 1858 pour participer aux opérations contre les mutineries indiennes.
